  • Seniors: The James Hardie Building Products Scholarship and Internship is back this year for St. Bede seniors and alumni ONLY! This is a $5,000 award and a paid summer internship with the possibility of full time employment after college graduation for Engineering or Accounting/Finance majors. Up to 4 scholarship/internship opportunities will be offered (depending on the number & quality of applicants). The award is renewable for up to five years based on satisfactory performance.   • Are you looking for service hours? Trinity Catholic Academy in LaSalle is looking for help with teardown for their Trivia Night on February 24. See Mr. Steben or Mr. Davy for details!

  • If you are a senior who is not planning to go to college right after graduation you need to apply for the Staff Quick Ready to Work $250 Scholarship.  The money can be used on anything you choose; clothing required for work, gas, pay bills until your first paycheck, etc.  The application can be found on the SBA scholarship list on the counseling website and is due to Ms. Bernabei by April 1st.

  • Get into the college of your dreams!  Attending Pre-College Summer programs can help improve your chances of getting into highly selective colleges!! Apply NOW!  See your email for links to search for and apply. 100’s of programs and colleges to choose from.

  • First fish fry of the season is tomorrow from 4:30-8 at the Ladd Moose club to support the Saint Bede Lady Bruins softball season!  You can purchase tickets at the door for $13. Come eat dinner and then go support the Lady Bruins Basketball team in their regional championship game at Marquette.

  • Yearbook staff planning to work on pages for the yearbook need to attend a training meeting Tuesday from 1:45-3 in Mrs. Griggs classroom.

Do not assume that they will receive an email notification and automatically complete this task without a face-to-face conversation with you. Always send a thank you note.  Letters of recommendation are not easy to write and students should show their gratitude for the time teachers put into this task.

  • Yearbook staff: Joelle from HJ Edesign will be here next Tuesday from 1:45-3  for a training on page design.  If you would like to begin working on pages, you need to attend this training.

  • SBASG will be selling roses during lunch Tuesday and Wednesday for $3 apiece. Flowers will be delivered on Wednesday. Order early!

  • Did you know? Depending on the country Lunar New Year lasts around 2 weeks with different activities and traditions happening throughout. This year the holiday starts this Saturday, Feb 10th, and will end on Feb 24th. Generally, it is a time for family gatherings, good food, and wishes for a prosperous new year. Families visit their relatives and friends to wish them a happy new year and exchange gifts of money given in red envelopes. Red is an important color because it signifies fortune, luck, and vitality.

  • Heritage Club members coming to make paper lanterns for Lunar New Year need to arrive to room 204 by 2:50pm on Friday.

  • We have an exciting weekend of athletic events, beginning this afternoon. At 4:30pm, our Wrestlers Hunter Savage, Grady Gillan, and Garrett Connelly will be competing in the IHSA Sectional meet at Dekalb High School. Logan Pineda also advanced but is injured and cannot wrestle. Beginning at 5:30pm, our Boys Sophomore/Varsity Basketball host Henry-Senachwine. Saturday, 2/10/24, beginning at 8am, Boys Freshmen Basketball engages in a B team tournament, hosted at JFK School in Spring Valley. At 9am, our girls' bowlers Aubrey Acuncius and Maddy Fabish compete at the IHSA Girls Bowling Sectional, hosted at Mardi Gras Lanes in Dekalb. At 10am, the Wrestling Sectional continues, also in Dekalb, and at 11am, Boys Basketball plays in a Varsity/Sophomore/Freshman Tri-Header here in Abbot Vincent Gymnasium, 11am Boys Varsity vs DePue, 1pm, Boys Sophomore vs Dwight, and at 2:30pm, Boys Varsity vs Dwight! Then on Monday, wear your SBA Green and let's GREEN WAVE our section for our Girls Varsity Basketball team as they compete in the first round of the IHSA Regional Basketball Tournament at Marquette Academy. Game time is 6pm.

  • Congratulations to our Super Smash Brothers eSports team: Noah Buck, Arthur van den Berg, and Julian Villava.  Last night Arthur and Julian played each other with Arthur winning 3 of the 5 matches.  Noah played against “deluxestar” from Roycemore High School in Evanston and won 3 out of 5 matches as well.

  • Congratulations to the Lady Bruins Basketball team on their 1st place finish in the Tri-County Conference tournament. Ali Bosnich, Ella Hermes, and Ashlyn Ehm were also named to the all-tournament team. Way to go!
